Essential Oils

What They Are And Their Benefits

Photo Credit: Eggybird (Flikr)

I get asked the question a lot;

WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS?

They are oils extracted by cold pressing or steam distillation (in most cases). These oils are concentrated versions of whatever plant, herb or fruit that they've come from and hold many healing benefits.

Because they are so concentrated it's important to remember to use a carrier oil in order to dilute them.

WHY ARE THEY USED?

They are used widely in aromatherapy practices to relieve emotional ailments; depression, migraines, melancholy, mental fatigue, low libido, insomnia and more.

They can also relieve physical ailments like; eczema, psoriasis, arthritis, sprains, burns, cuts, stretch marks, wrinkles, age spots and more.
