Shampoo & Shine
Natural Hair Care is as important as Natural Skin Care for looking good while keeping your body free of harmful chemicals.
Natural Herbal Shampoo
This is a natural shampoo you can easily make yourself.WHAT YOU NEED: 25g of crushed soapwort rootHeat resistant bowl.6 cups of boiling waterWHAT TO DO: Infuse the soapwort in the boiling water for 10 minutes.Strain the liquid.Use about 1/2 cup of the liquid to shampoo your hair.If you want a nice smelling shampoo you can add herbs such as rosemary or lavender to the infusion.
What is Soapwort? You may be wondering just what soapwort is. Soapwort is a readily grown herb. You can use either the leaf or the root for many different remedies including as a natural treatment for poison ivy. In this case we are using the root.Due to it's soapy and lathering qualities soapwort has long been used for cleaning both textiles and people! The juice from the leaves or the root can also be used as a treatment for eczema, acne, and other skin problems that tend to linger. As with any new treatment on the skin it is a good idea to do a patch test first to ensure there is no negative reaction to the juice.
Rosemary Shine
For lovely soft and conditioned hair that is shiny and sweet smelling.WHAT YOU NEED: A handful of fresh rosemary sprigs.Heat resistant bowl.3 cups of boiling waterWHAT TO DO: Place the rosemary sprigs in the bowl.Pour in the boiling water.Cover the bowl.Allow to cool until warm.Strain out the rosemary and retain the liquid.Wash your hair as normal with shampoo, and rinse well.Use the rosemary liquid as your final hair rinse. The rosemary oil in the rinse will condition your hair and leave it soft, sweet smelling and shiny. FOR BLONDE HAIR: If you have naturally blonde hair you can use Chamomile flowers in the same way as the rosemary to make a rinse to lighten and brighten your hair.
Fast & Easy Vinegar Shine
Vinegar is really useful natural hair care for removing any shampoo left in your hair. It will also restore the correct acidic pH balance to your hair.Using a vinegar in your hair is simple, and will greatly improve your shine. WHAT TO DO: Simply choose a vinegar you like - there are many good smelling choices available - or use a simple white vinegar (if you are comfortable with the smell).Add about 40 ml of vinegar to a cup of water in the shower. After shampooing rinse your hair with the vinegar and water mixture.
Thinning Hair
Rosemary is especially helpful if you have thinning hair, particularly if it is thinning due to illness.Regular use of a rosemary infusion - such as the Rosemary Shine Recipe above - or the addition of rosemary essential oil to your shampoo - will help to stimulate blood flow to the hair follicles in your scalp.
