How to Reduce Cellulite Naturally

Learn how to reduce cellulite the natural way with exercise and cellulite treatments.

If you do not know what cellulite is, then you are one of the lucky few among us!

Generally it is visible in most women around the tops of the thighs, and kind of resembles an orange peel look on the skin, although larger bumps!

Cellulite is thought to be caused by water retention and is often brought on by hormonal changes, mostly increases in oestrogen (hence its presence in women rather than young girls).

Fatty deposits under the skin can also be to blame for the "lumpy" appearance.

Whatever the cause of your cellulite, most people are not happy with it and would like to either remove or reduce cellulite altogether.


Dry Brushing = Exercise for Your Cellulite

Dry brushing or body brushing of your skin is a great way to boost your circulation and get rid of dead skin cells.

You can do this a couple of times a day to help give your beautiful glowing skin and to reduce cellulite.

It can help to improve the lymphatic system, get rid of toxins, and tighten the skin.

THE BASIC TECHNIQUE

  • Use a loofah or long-handled body brush. Choose one that will not be too harsh on your skin, and don't be too hard on any particular area of the body.
  • Always work your brushing towards your heart, and avoid sensitive areas such as your breasts.
  • Start at the feet and work your way up your body with long upward sweeping movements.
  • A good dry brushing done well over a short couple of minutes can leave you feeling as though you have just finished a lovely stimulating walk! Hence it is great exercise for cellulite.

    Exercise in general is good for reducing cellulite as it gets your heart pumping and circulation working better.

  • You can also massage your legs daily, with an upward movement towards the heart, as another easy way to help reduce cellulite.


    Essential Oils for Cellulite Reduction

    The following essential oils are considered helpful, in the treatment of cellulite, as either a massage oil (mixed with a carrier oil in a 1:2 dilution) or added to your bath.

  • CYPRESS - is an astringent, and will help firm and tone the muscles.

  • GERANIUM - has a cleaning and toning effect on the liver and kidney so helps remove toxins from the body. Also has diuretic properties that help reduce fluid retention. Can help cleanse the skin, but can also be irritating if you have sensitive skin.

  • JUNIPER - this is a diuretic that will help tone the skin and remove toxins.

  • LAVENDER - promotes the growth of new skin cells. Can help clear the liver and spleen and aid in the digestion of fats.

  • LEMON - good for removing dead skin cells and improving pale or dull skin. Has a cleansing effect in the body by aiding digestion.

  • JOJOBA OIL is a good carrier oil as the massage oil for cellulite treatments as it helps your body remove excess fat deposits and toxins.


    Massage Blends

    ZINGY CELLULITE BURNER

    WHAT YOU NEED:

  • 5 drops of Lemon Oil
  • 3 drops of Juniper Oil
  • 2 drops of Geranium Oil
  • 20ml of a Carrier Oil, such as Jojoba or Olive Oil

    WHAT TO DO:

  • Mix the above oils together, then massage into the affected area of the body.


    REFRESHING THIGH SLIMMER

    WHAT YOU NEED:

  • 10 drops of Cypress Oil
  • 10 drops of Juniper Oil
  • 5 drops of Lavender Oil
  • 50ml of a Carrier Oil, such as Jojoba or Olive Oil

    WHAT TO DO:

  • Mix the above oils together, then massage into the affected area of the body.


    Body Scrub

    SALTY BODY SCRUB

    WHAT YOU NEED:

  • 1 cup of coarse sea salt
  • 100 ml of Jojoba Oil
  • 8 drops of either cypress, geranium, juniper, lavender or lemon oil
  • A wide mouth container that you can get your hand in and out of easily.

    WHAT TO DO:

  • Slowly add the Essential Oil of your choice to the Jojoba Oil in the container.
  • Blend the oils together.
  • Add the Salt to the container and gently mix.
  • Use the mixture as a Body Scrub rubbing it into areas where you want to reduce cellulite.
    It is probably best to do this over the bath or shower so you can really rub it all over your body.
  • Rinse off in the shower.
