Teeth Whiteners
for Home Teeth Whitening
Teeth whiteners have become increasingly popular in recent years. And we have all heard the stories where the procedure of teeth whitening did not go according to plan! For many people this can be a painful experience, often due to the products used to whiten the teeth, but also the technique and physical methods for getting into your mouth. Plus treatments can be costly as well. For those of us who are on a limited budget, or do not see the value for money in a professional teeth whitening, it is possible to whiten your teeth for under $15!
I don't know about you, but I need to have my morning coffee. I am absolutely addicted to it and don't feel like my day is complete unless I have at least one cup. While the International Journal of Cancer and Familial Breast Cancer Research Unit of The Centre of Research for Women agree that drinking lots of coffee (and yes I mean lots, 3-6 cups a day!) reduces your risk of breast cancer; it also leaves nasty stains behind on your teeth.
Baking Soda
This is a really easy first step to whiter teeth. It is natural and surprisingly effective if you can stand the taste in your mouth! You can either brush your teeth with a little baking soda and water on your toothbrush, or you can use a bit of toothpaste with it at the same time. I have found that if I do this every couple of days for a week or two, perhaps every 2-3 months, then it will make quite a difference to both the appearance and feel of my teeth! Unfortunately sometimes it is not quite enough. Particularly if you are competing against widely available commercial (and stronger, potentially harmful) products. There are also a lot of teeth whitening services available too - some professional, some not as professional as they should be.
Homemade Teeth Whitener
I don't really want to wake up, look in the mirror and see teeth that look like I put cheese in my mouth. I got sick of the nasty yellow color and apparently so did my husband, because he bought me some teeth whitening mouthwash! After a few uses of the mouthwash my teeth were significantly whiter, however my mouth was swelling up, glands became incredibly sore to the touch and I couldn't eat for 2 whole days. It turns out there is fake sugar (saccharine) in it. I am allergic to aspartame, saccharine, and pretty much any other type of fake sugar, it makes my mouth and glands swell up - and for good reason, they aren't good for you! I looked at the other ingredients on my teeth whiteners and in the mouthwashes, and it turns out there's 1 common ingredient - Hydrogen Peroxide. How simple is that? So I did some research and found that Hydrogen Peroxide -due to its unique combination of hydrogen and oxygen - does a deep cleaning of the teeth and has a whitening effect. So here is a simple teeth whitening mixture for you, that you may already have at home! (Or if not, it should be under $15 as your local store! Teeth whitening strips cost between $19 - $95!)
WHAT YOU NEED: Hydrogen Peroxide Baking Soda Peppermint Essential Oil (Optional) Liquid Stevia (Optional)
You'll have to play around with the portion sizes to get the right mixture.WHAT TO DO: Mix the hydrogen peroxide with baking soda to form a thick paste.Brush your teeth as you would a tooth paste. If you want a nice flavor add 1-2 drops of Peppermint Essential oil and 1-2 drops of liquid Stevia to get that fresh minty flavor. That's it! Simple isn't it? Now you can enjoy the benefits of white teeth without all the harsh chemicals and fake sugar substitutes!
