How To Use Basil Essential Oil
The oil can be used internally, inhaled as a vapor, rubbed on the skin or added to your bath water.
If you take it internally - ideally by adding a little oil to your food - it will relieve:
Gas
Constipation
Aids in Digestion
Cramps
Other gastrointestinal problems.
Menstrual Cramp Relief
For me this is nice, especially during "that time of the month".
I just add a little bit of this to my food and I can function like a normal person again!
Which is not only nice for me but everyone around me as well, ha ha.
Definitely worth a try if menstrual cramps are something you suffer with.
More Health Benefits
I know a lot of people who are prone to getting sick very easily, whether it's from a past injury or they just don't have very strong immune systems.
The health benefits of basil essential oil are great for them, because it can also help relieve:
Colds.
Flu.
Whooping Cough - it has also been known to treat whooping cough due to the fact that it contains antispasmodic properties.
Asthma.
Bronchitis.
Pneumonia.
Sinus Infections.
Skin Infections.
Bladder Infections.
Relieves Motion Sickness / Vomiting.
Improves blood circulation - helps to get rid of colds and regenerate skin cells. Great for
anti aging
and
stretch marks!
A stress and pain reliever - including sprains, arthritis, rheumatism.
Improves mental clarity.
Relieves Migraines.
Helps the skin to look lustrous.
Can be used on cuts, burns and scrapes to relieve pain.
With all of these wonderful properties it's hard to believe it's from one product.
So as you can see, this is a wonderful item to have in your kitchen cupboard to season foods, or in your medicine cabinet to help with cuts, scrapes and sickness.
WHAT SHOULD I CHOOSE?
Every summer I grow pots of fragrant fresh basil. It is cheap and easy to grow, and I find just one packet of seeds is enough.
At the end of summer I pull off any remaining leaves and freeze them for use over the winter.
Fresh is often best but sometimes not practical, so I also keep some essential oil on hand too.
Special Note: I use Amazon online to purchase ready to go products so I can maintain my natural skin care regime at all times, e.g travelling, working long hours, unable to get to the store... It is a good alternative without compromising my ideals.
