Lotion Bar Recipes

I came across some great lotion bar recipes when researching new ideas for my website and I just had to share them!

This is a great cleansing lotion recipe, use it in the shower as shaving cream or just as a nice moisturizer.

Spoil yourself with these homemade lotion bar recipes.

HANDMADE LOTION BARS
MAKE WONDERFUL GIFTS.

Keep them chunky, hand cut and rustic,
or try using a unique and attractive mold to shape them.
You can find more homemade gift ideas here.

Basic Lotion Bar Recipe

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • 4oz Beeswax
  • 4oz raw Cocoa Butter
  • 4oz of a carrier oil
  • 10 drops of essential oil
  • A mold of suitable size and shape that can handle some heat.

  • WHAT TO DO:

  • Melt the cocoa butter and beeswax together, you can use a double boiler, the microwave, or just a pan on the stove - but be sure not to heat it to the boiling point because it looses some of its nutrients when it boils.
  • When the beeswax and cocoa butter have melted completely remove from the heat and add the carrier oil of your choice and essential oil, most people like to add Pure Lavender Oil .
  • Then you'll want to have a mold of some sort, pour into the molds and let it harden.
  • Then it's ready to use!

Pure Monoi de Tahiti Lotion Bar

Monoi de Tahiti is a luxurious oil that is known in the French Polynesian culture as one of their best beauty secrets. Created from a type of Polynesian coconuts, it smells wonderful and is wonderful for your skin.

    WHAT YOU NEED:

  • 2oz beeswax
  • 2oz Monoi de Tahiti
  • 4oz Coconut Oil
  • A mold of suitable size and shape that can handle some heat.

    WHAT TO DO:

  • Melt the beeswax, then add the coconut oils.
  • Pour into molds and let harden.

    Avocado Bar

I personally love avocados, they are one of my all time favorite skin care products. They are rich in Vitamin A, great at reducing scars, wrinkles and stretch marks and most of all it's not expensive!

So it should be no surprise that I just had to make a moisturizing bar that used some type of avocado.

    WHAT YOU NEED:

  • 2oz Avocado Oil
  • 2oz Coconut Oil
  • 2oz Beeswax
  • 2oz Cocoa Butter
  • 10 drops of essential oil (optional, for fragrance)
  • A mold of suitable size and shape that can handle some heat.

    WHAT TO DO:

  • Melt the beeswax and cocoa butter together, then take off of heat and add the oils.
  • Pour into molds and let harden.

This is a great moisturizing bar to have next to your sink after you've done dishes and your hands are all dry from the hot water and soap, or for right after the shower.

    Cleansing and Moisturizing Shower Bar

This is a shower bar, great for moisturizing and exfoliating the skin. It's a wonderful anti aging product that will leave your skin feeling amazing - and it's fun to make too!

    WHAT YOU NEED:

  • 1oz Beeswax
  • 1oz Shea Butter (shea butter works better for shower bars than cocoa butter)
  • 1oz jojoba or sweet almond oil
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • A mold of suitable size and shape that can handle some heat.

    WHAT TO DO:

  • Melt the beeswax and shea butter, then add the oil.
  • Pour into molds and let it begin to cool, when you notice it beginning to harden mix in the sugar (you don't want the sugar to melt or it wont exfoliate!)
