The Oily Skin Myth

What You Might Not Know

So what is the Oily Skin Myth? I'm sure many of you have read or heard that if you have oily skin or acne that you should never use products with oil on your skin. Wrong!

So many times I've heard that adding more oil to oily skin will make your skin even oilier, but that just isn't true.

Oily skin can become dehydrated and dry just like every other skin type (You might not notice it!) and this can make your skin produce even MORE oil.

USE A LIGHT MOISTURIZER

By using a light moisturizer morning and night you can actually reduce oily skin. (I didn't believe it at first either!)

Emu oil moisturizer is a great one to use! Very light and great for under makeup. When talking about acne emu oil definitely helped and did miracles for my acne. I used it straight on my skin at night and it really did improve.

Using oil on your skin does depend some on the person, in knowing what oil to use because there are oils that will clog your pores.

Oils for Oily Skin!

These are the Carrier and Essential Oils that are the most ideal for use on oily skin. Talk about beating the oily skin myth!

CARRIER OILS

  • Calendula
  • Olive Oil

    ESSENTIAL OILS

  • Cypress Oil
  • Lavender Oil
  • Mandarin Oil

    Good Foundation For Oily Skin

I personally use Physicians Formula foundations, they are light, work well and don't clog my pores.

Other types of foundation that are good are kinds that contain zinc oxide like some mineral foundations like BareMinerals (not BareEscentuals) and mineral makeup.

    Homemade Masks for Oily Skin

    BANANA MASK

  • 1 ripe banana (mashed)
  • 1 tablespoon of honey

  • Mix ingredients together.
  • Apply and leave for 15 minutes.
  • Rinse off with warm water.
  • Remember to moisturize afterwords!

    GREEN CLAY MASK

  • 1 tbsp Green Clay
  • 1 tsp Jojoba oil
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice (a natural astringent)

  • Mix ingredients together.
  • Apply and leave for 15 minutes.
  • Rinse off with warm water.

    Other Oily Skin Care Help

    WITCH HAZEL FOR OILY SKIN

  • Add a few drops of witch hazel essential oil to 1oz water.
  • Use a cotton ball and dab on your skin.
  • It's great for absorbing oil and cleansing the skin.

Special Note: I use Amazon online to purchase ready to go products so I can maintain my natural skin care regime at all times, e.g travelling, working long hours, unable to get to the store... It is a good alternative without compromising my ideals.
